Just as a test I went to see how much a comprehensive (Accidental Damage, Theft, Standard Perils) insurance policy is for an apple laptop. I only checked one site in the US but the cost to cover a $2,000 device for 3 years was $559. This is with NO deductible.

I really don't understand why apple can't figure out how to provide comprehensive coverage for their products. It is almost underhanded to sell an 'extended warranty' which does not cover the majority of issues customers will have.

When apple provides a warranty that simply covers manufacturers defects, what they are really saying when you purchase apple care is 'Hey for $200-300 we will fix something that fails due to the fact that we designed it wrong in the first place'

It seems like they got it wrong from the get go! took that saying; less is more to literal. And being the brand that every one adore have made the organization arrogant, sloppy and to focused on marginal profits. Apple's golden days of unparalleled quality is gone... at least for now :)
