PROJECT MANAGER (TECHNICAL)

Idea Couture is looking for a unique person for the role of Project Manager. Unlike typical project management roles, we are looking for someone who is well organized and can run projects but also someone who is equally at ease in front of clients as they are when faced technical code. This is truly a right-brain, left-brain position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position requires working in a cross-functional environment.
• Ability to understand and manage web development teams in multiple environments i.e. Open Source.
• Understand and manage scope (overall project and web development); clearly define scope; identify impact of potential scope changes (budget, timelines, business);
• Develop and manage project schedules and time/budgets in order to deliver the project on time and on budget; obtain appropriate business unit approvals and sign-offs.
• Identify, obtain and use effectively project resources with appropriate skill levels.
• Identify and manage all deliverables.
• Proactively track & monitor financial health and status of project; proactively track all issues and changes.
• Identify, assess and manage risks, severity and impacts, determine and implement risk mitigation strategies. This includes technical risk during development.
• Keep lines of communication open among all project stakeholders.
• Plan, organize, lead and manage project team assignments, activities and project team members; including contractors, full-time and 3rd party vendor resources.
• Plan for and conduct regular project team status/review meetings across all disciplines
• Prepare and/or present projects status reports to various levels within management.
• Schedule and manage technical implementations.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years experience in the digital space with demonstrated progressive levels of responsibility.
• Strong technical background (i.e. programming, business and systems analysis, data architecture and analysis – with a specific focus on open source technologies) to enable effective management of project teams
• Strong working knowledge of project management methodology, systems development methodology and quality assurance techniques.
• Proven track of success in managing the development and implementation of medium/high scale technology projects.
• Previous experience in managing teams of technical resources from various areas: business analysis, front end web, application development, middleware, infrastructure.
• Previous Project Management consulting would be considered a strong asset.
• Strong analytical skills, with very high attention to detail
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to facilitate discussions
• Team building: resolve conflict; stress success; listen and observe; coach, mentor and advise project team members; enlist participation; build alignments; lead by example
